You spend a lot of time planning fun and engaging lessons for your students. Why not let your students in on your big plans? Show them what to expect by making a weekly classroom agenda to display on your whiteboard. Staying prepared is easier than ever with vibrant EXPO colors and tip sizes.
Empower Your Students
All students perform better when they feel like they are in a safe, predictable environment. Displaying the weekly agenda on the board will clue them in to what’s happening next and give them the comfort and control they need. They’ll stop wondering about what’s happening next and give their full attention to your instruction.
In addition to keeping your lessons on track and improving your students’ quality of work, your weekly agenda will increase the efficiency of your classroom. Stop wasting time and energy by giving (and repeating!) verbal instructions; let the students read for themselves while you get other things done. When students are absent, they can easily see what they missed and make up their assignments.
Grab Their Attention
Your agenda should be bright and easy to see from anywhere in your classroom. Devote one end of your whiteboard to this section, and use as much space you need! Mark it off with masking tape, electrical tape, or simply draw a bold line with a EXPO Low Odor Dry Erase Markers, Chisel Tip.
Use Expo® Low Odor Dry Erase Markers, Chisel Tip to write on laminated cardstock and label each section of the agenda. Write large, bold letters that can be seen across the room. Easily wipe away your markings if you make a mistake or need to make new labels.
Use EXPO Low Odor Dry Erase Markers, Fine Tip or EXPO Low Odor Wet Erase Markers, Fine Point to fill in your content underneath each label on the white board. When the week is over, simply erase these markings and start a new week.
Use EXPO Low Odor Wet Erase Markers, Fine Point to label sections of your agenda. Wet erase marker ink will last longer on your whiteboard without accidentally being erased away. If you ever need to edit your sections, simply wipe it with a damp cloth and you’ve got a fresh blank slate!
Decorate your agenda with EXPO’s huge variety of colors – make it festive with seasonal colors, or wake everyone up with Expo Neon Dry Erase Markers, Bullet Tip! Color-code by subject, or use eye-catching EXPO Bright Sticks Wet Erase Fluorescent Markers, Bullet Tip to highlight due dates and deadlines. Communicate clearly with your students by making your assignments bold and easier to read; your students will respond with a higher level of preparation and participation!
Not sure what to include in your agenda? Here are some suggestions to help you get started:
Objectives: Include your Unit Objectives as well as the objectives that will be covered specifically today. Use “I Can” statements and Essential Questions to make it easier for the students to understand.
Date(s): Write the date each morning, or keep it simple and write the dates for the week.
Today’s Agenda: Give your students a detailed and sequenced list of the day’s activities, including items that need to be turned in by the end of the day, today’s Related Arts class, and any fun activities that will take place!
Materials: Let your students know exactly what they need and when they’ll need it. This is a great way to teach responsibility and hold them accountable for their level of preparation.
Days of the Week: Give them a general idea of what to expect each day of the week. Include tests and due dates, big activities, guest speakers and field trips, etc.
